Call for Work
Dream Machine is a large-scale comics and animation event commissioned for Brighton’s White Night Festival 2010.
Animated dreams and visions will light up the Old Steine’s Georgian mansion, Marlborough House, on the 30th October. In the run up to the live event a fantastical tale of dream experimentation and imagination will be told through two issues of an illuminated newspaper.
The newspapers will feature comic strips and illustration and build up a narrative around Marlborough House before the festival event. It’s a collaborative venture with group imagination as its subject
The animations will be projected onto the façade of the building and progress the narrative to its explosive conclusion.
The general call out for animators and comics’ artists to interpret the key themes of dreams and illumination is now open:
Newspaper:
We are looking for diverse material, from apocalyptic comic strips to tongue-in-cheek, one panel adverts featuring the inventions of the Enlightenment period.
There are also exciting opportunities for artists to illustrate the narrative itself, either full-page or half-page colour strips.
Full details of comics submissions.
Animation:
We are looking for fantastical, animated dreams and visions that will be projected onto the windows of Marlborough House.
There are also exciting opportunities for animators to create work that will span the entire building façade, including the windows.
